Cedar Planters

Well it's been awhile since my last post, but I wanted my blog to be about my wood working and stained glass work and well it has been this long since my last project. The winter was bitter and I simply was not motivated to go out into a cold garage.

Last weekend my brother came to town with a truck load of cedar wood from New Brunswick. Very nice wood. He also found some outdoor planter plans from Plansnow (http://www.plansnow.com/) It was a great set of plans, well illustrated and very easy to follow.

We got an 8:00 am start worked until 6:00 pm with the usual breaks and trips to the hardware store. Sunday we put in about 45 minutes including shop clean up. Here's what we achieved.

We took a look at what you can buy at the garden center and there is no comparison. They were very flimy and a lot of junk wood used.

Having two people get into a production mode made for fast progress and shows what you can do in a weekend. These are unfinished and unsanded, but hey, they are outdoor planters and cedar to boot. They will weather nicely.

Later!
