Sun and Moon

This is my next project. I have always wanted to do something like this and found a picture of one (can't remember where) and replicated it into a pattern I could use. This is a large piece coming in at 2.5 feet per side.

I struggled with the sailboat I made for my brother so talked to my teacher and he agreed I was trying to do things that were simply too complicated for lead. The plan for this piece is to do the sun and moon in copper foil and the surrounding pieces in lead. I'm also going to patina the center medallion in copper so it stands out in the piece.

The weather is awfully nice these days so this one might take a little while to complete. I hope to have it finished sometime in August.
