I missed a couple of posts while I worked on siding the tree fort. Tonight I put up the roof. I lucked into an 8X10 camo tarp from Princess Auto. It's the best place to buy tarps by far.
As there are five trees in and around the fort, I was unable to tie the tarp in a pitched roof fashion. So I tied it to a bunch of trees in an angled fashion. We'll see how it works over the summer.
Here you can see the entrance into the fort. I made my own rope ladder. Weight capacity per rope is 278 pounds. Its had no trouble holding up the kids. It even manages my bulk. :-)
Here's a shot from inside the fort. My youngest is already wanting to sleep outside. It's still too cold so we are going to wait for some slightly warmer weather.
Here's a picture of the trap door going down. I've a big gap in the rungs where the door closes. Once I adjust it a bit, I will adjust the ladder. That's the beauty of a rope ladder. The rungs hold their place, but can be adjusted.
Final shot. All the leaves are out now. I'm going to stain the fort a cedar color. when I do, it will blend in even more.
On to my next project. I'm either going to work on a stained glass panel, build some cabinets or dig out my pond and expand it. Stay tuned :-)
